About Us

Based in Belfast, Prime Cut Productions is one of Northern Ireland’s leading independent theatre companies. Established in 1992, it has over the last twenty years produced some of Ireland’s most memorable and thought-provoking theatre.

Our work is split into three distinct categories:

CREATE: An Artistic Programme of two professional productions annually of the best of international drama featuring casts and creative teams of the highest quality. Over 20 years Prime Cut have produced over 30 Irish and Northern Irish Premieres from countries as diverse as France, Canada, Chile, South Africa, Russia and the USA as well as outstanding work from the UK and Ireland, to critical acclaim.

INNOVATE: Our Annual Artistic Development Programme drives forward the development of Northern Irish professional theatre through the provision of the finest International Training Opportunities for Northern Irish Artists, the showcasing of new work and the commissioning of new plays by Northern Irish Playwrights.

PARTICIPATE: Our Community Engagement Programme provides year-round opportunities for access to and participation in the arts for young people, older people, disadvantaged people and people from minority groupings including an Annual Special Outreach Showcase Project in partnership with a wide range of Community and Arts groups.

Prime Cut are committed to:

· Develop and produce quality contemporary international drama for local audiences and beyond

· Sustain and build upon our critical reputation for first-class challenging theatre, promoting cultural diversity and understanding through artistic exchanges within a local, national and international arena

· Drive forward the development of theatre practice and nurture the professional and creative skills of theatre artists in NI

· Deliver a strong, continuous programme of outreach special projects across areas of multiple deprivation and Section 75 Groups to augment our annual outreach and access programme and increase audiences for and participation in the arts.

· Ensure Prime Cut has the physical, human and financial resources to deliver its strategic plan and manage an efficient, effective organisation
