Prime Cut Outreach
About Prime Cut's Outreach and Education Programme
Prime Cut has an extensive Outreach and Education programme, supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Belfast City Council. This programme aims on increase access to, and encourage participation in drama as an art form, and to bring this to a wider audience through the development of strong partnerships with schools, colleges and community groups.
Special Outreach Projects
Prime Cut’s Special Outreach Programme has been running since 2007 and is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Belfast City Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. This is a stand-alone project in terms of Prime Cut’s professional productions, culminating in an annual performance by participants. Keeping in line with Prime Cut’s emphasis on high quality work, these productions are supported by a fully professional production team, supporting the actors who are drawn from various Community groups.
The Middle Way (2009 - 2010)
 |
Prime Cut are now on their third Special Outreach Programme, “the Middle Way”. Prime Cut are excited to be working with New Lodge Arts and Ardoyne Women’s Group again, and are joined by the Westland Community Group. Maiden Voyage Dance Company are delivering this project alongside Prime Cut Productions. Rehearsals for this are well under way with the award winning director Louise Lowe.
Right Here, Right Now
"Poised precariously on the brink of adulthood, a group of teenagers from across Belfast come together to create a show about who they are, right here, right now. Abandoning characters and costumes, in favour of holding up a collective mirror to their lives, they show us the extraordinary within the ordinary. RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW is a fascinating piece of documentary theatre that captures the restless, illogical and reckless energy of being a teenager today. Right Here Right Now is directed by multi award winning Dublin director Louise Lowe." |

Outlines (2008 - 2009)
Building on "Belfast Days" Prime Cut worked in partnership with New Lodge Arts and Ardoyne Women's Group performing Lisa McGee's play "The Heights" - premiering this in Northern Ireland. The play was performed at the Old Museum Arts Centre to sell out audiences and then taken to Dublin and the Samuel Beckett Theatre.
The “Outlines” project was delivered in conjunction with the National Theatre’s “New Connections” Programme. The aspiring actors were supported by a fully professional Production team, with the show directed by Alison McCrudden, set design by Stuart Marshall, lighting design by Susan Ponisi and sound design by Stephen Bell.
